Once upon a time, in a quaint little town nestled amidst rolling hills, there lived a couple named Ravi and Priya. They were overjoyed when their son, Aryan, came into their lives. Like any loving parents, Ravi and Priya eagerly awaited each milestone in Aryan's development, from his first smile to his first steps.
However, as Aryan grew older, Ravi and Priya began to notice that he was not reaching certain developmental milestones like other children his age. Concerned, they consulted with their pediatrician, who assured them that some children's speech may be delayed and that Aryan would catch up in his own time.
Trusting the advice of the pediatrician, Ravi and Priya continued to patiently wait for Aryan's speech to develop. But as the years passed, they couldn't shake off the feeling that something wasn't quite right. Even Aryan's primary school teachers dismissed their concerns, attributing his struggles to shyness or simply being a late bloomer.
It wasn't until Aryan turned seven that a chance encounter with another parent changed everything. This parent, noticing Aryan's difficulties, urged Ravi and Priya to seek help from the National Speech and Therapy Centre in Mysore. Reluctantly, but with a glimmer of hope, they decided to visit the center.
To their shock and dismay, the specialists at the center diagnosed Aryan with a developmental disorder and recommended early intervention. Suddenly, everything made sense – the missed milestones, the struggles in school – it all fell into place. But despite the clarity, Ravi and Priya were overwhelmed by the challenges that lay ahead.
They enrolled Aryan in an inclusive school, hoping for a supportive environment where he could thrive. However, they soon realized that the school's understanding of Aryan's needs was lacking, and the environment was not conducive to his growth and development.
Feeling disheartened, Ravi and Priya made the difficult decision to transfer Aryan to a special school. Yet, even there, they found themselves facing a new set of challenges. While the school provided some therapy and support, it lacked a comprehensive approach to addressing Aryan's needs.
Determined to provide the best possible future for their son, Ravi and Priya embarked on a tireless search for a center that could offer holistic development opportunities for children like Aryan. However, their search seemed endless, and they couldn't find a single center that addressed therapy, life skills, and livelihood skills all under one roof.
It was during this time of frustration and uncertainty that they crossed paths with SPECS, a group of communicators and innovators dedicated to developing tools for communication through teaching aids. Moved by Ravi and Priya's story, SPECS joined forces with Speakingcube, a pioneer in the field of mental health with experts equipped to deal with a special mind.
Together, they envisioned a center called Sneham, where therapy, life skills, and livelihood skills would be addressed holistically under the guidance of clinical psychologists, therapists, education experts, engineers, yoga instructors, physiotherapists, counseling experts, and parents.
Their objective was not to force-feed knowledge but to create an environment that would inspire self-learning and growth. And so, with determination and hope in their hearts, Ravi and Priya set out on a new journey, empowered by the vision of Sneham and the promise of a brighter future for Aryan and children like him.
